The soybean harvest was 68% complete in Brazil’s southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, according to Emater-RS. The entity has also cited an advance of 13% in the week and some improvement in the conditions of the crops to be sown. Despite the progress, the works are still behind the 82% registered in the same period of the previous cycle. “Productivity in these crops is slightly higher when compared to previous weeks, as they were favored by rainfalls from February onwards, and a slightly more pronounced improvement is expected by the end of November and during December”, said Emater. The average productivity of the oilseed in Rio Grande do Sul, which has crops with different productive potential, is expected to remain at 1,511 kilos per hectare. In corn areas, the harvest increased only 2% (to 84%). Yield expectations for the corn crop remain at 3,500 kilos per hectare.
