The Port of São Francisco do Sul handled 1.2 million tons in January, 50% more than in the same period last year (828 thousand tons). Exports totaled 707 thousand tons, twice as much as in the first month of 2022, when 363 thousand tons were sent abroad. Corn was mainly responsible for this increase, reaching 604 thousand tons, which means a historic record for the month of January. In those 30 days, nine ships left São Francisco do Sul, carrying an average of 67,000 tons of corn each. Imports of goods reached 547,000 tons in the first month of 2023, an increase of 17% compared to the same period in 2022 (466,000 tons).
