RAINS PROPEL SOYBEAN PLANTING TO 18% IN BRAZIL, YET DELAY PERSISTS

Thanks to better weather, Brazil’s 2024–25 soybean crop plantings reached 18% of the projected area by October 17, up from 8% the week before. However, this was still lower than the 30% recorded during the same period last year. Mato Grosso has the slowest planting rates since 2020-21, while Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul have the fastest planting rates since 2017–18 and 2018–19, respectively. Once rainfall improves, planting will speed up. Summer corn was planted in 48% of the Center-South’s projected area in 2024-25, all because of the rains in the South.
