Cargo throughput at the ports of Rio Grande do Sul increased by 10.12% from January to August compared to the same period in 2022. In a note to the press, Portos RS reported that the driving force behind this result was the Port of Rio Grande, which handled 27,108,695 tonnes (+10.39%). The Port of Pelotas has an 899,026 tonnes throughput, representing a 6.38% increase. Meanwhile, the Port of Porto Alegre handled 575,842 tonnes (+3.61%). “In general, the solid bulk cargo segment stood out in the ports of Rio Grande do Sul, with 18,257,780 tonnes. Following that are general cargoes, with 7,772,395 tonnes, and in third place, liquid bulk cargoes, with 2,533,388 tonnes,” the company stated. “During this period, container handling showed a growth of 17.72%. Operations conducted from January to August totaled 402,505 units.”
