The Port of Santos set another cargo throughput record in October. It scored the highest volume in October compared to previous years (14.4 million tonnes) and the best year-to-date result (138.2 million tonnes, up 11.7% from January-October last year). The port’s performance in October indicates that it may beat the best annual mark in its history – 147 million tonnes in December 2021.bOctober outperformed the same month last year by 34.5%, owing primarily to an increase in shipments of 48.1%, totaling 10.5 million tonnes. Emphasis on farming goods, such as soybeans and derivatives, whose shipments increased by 106.8% to 1.5 million tonnes; sugar (39.3% to 2.3 million tonnes); and corn (130.6% to 2.5 million tonnes). Pulp also had a strong performance, increasing by 69.4% to 863.7 thousand tonnes.
