The Moroccan fertilizer company Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) will open a phosphate fertilizer manufacturing facility in Brazil. Members of Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply met with representatives of the Moroccan state-owned company, which is the second-largest phosphate producer in the world. The meeting took place in Rabat, Morocco. According to the ministry, the company’s intention contributes to the National Fertilizer Plan, launched in March to stimulate national phosphate production and compensate the shortage caused by the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine. “We have this responsibility, both this company, which owns the largest phosphate reserve in the world, and Brazil, which has an extension of land and strong scientific technology to produce food for the world”, said Montes. Morocco has about 70% of the world’s phosphate rock reserves and is the biggest supplier of phosphorus to Brazil. The Moroccan state-owned company has been operating in Brazil since 2010 and has seven offices in the country.
