Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture reports that the Gross Value of Production (GVP) in agriculture totaled BRL1.2 trillion in August 2024, with BRL 809.1 billion coming from crops (67.4%) and BRL 391.6 billion from livestock (32.6). Soybeans (23.5%), corn (10.1%), and sugarcane (9.9%) were the top agricultural crops, while cattle (12%) and poultry (8.3%) topped livestock. Comparatively to the year before, there was consistency; a little rise of 0.1%. Driven by swine (+68.9%), the GVP of cattle gained 7.7%; while corn and soybean prices caused a 3.2 percent decline in crop output. In terms of national GVP, the Midwest comes out on top with 28.6%.
