FEDERARROZ WILL SHIP 25 THOUSAND TONS OF RICE TO MEXICO

The export of 25 thousand tons of paddy rice to Mexico is the first outcome of Brazil’s trade mission to Mexico in Guadalajara. Another 50 thousand tons are in the process of being negotiated and should also be closed in the coming days, reaching 75 thousand tons of rice. According to the president of the Federation of Rice Associations of Rio Grande do Sul (Federarroz), Alexandre Velho, this announcement is crucial to bring a market reference point, and this shipment is the first of several to be carried out. The mission’s goal is the dialogue with the Mexican market to a better understand of Mexico’s real need for rice. This year, in April, Mexico officially opened the import tax exemption for Brazilian paddy rice. This exemption was for a quota of 75 thousand tons for rice to be purchased by Mexico by the end of this year.
