CTC, a global leader in sugarcane science, aims to double the productivity of Brazil’s sugarcane fields by 2040 to meet ethanol demand. Silvia Yokoyama, Director at CTC, announced during the Datagro International Conference that technologies like precision genetic improvement and biotechnology are being applied to sugarcane, enhancing productivity and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The introduction of seed-based planting technology will optimize land use, reduce diesel and fertilizer consumption, and improve decarbonization. CTC has invested 2 billion reais in research over the last decade.
