The largest producer of corn ethanol in Brazil FS Bioenergia has joined the Sugarcane Industry Association (Unica) and has become the first corn ethanol company associated to the entity. FS currently has two plants in the cities of Lucas do Rio Verde and in Sorriso in the state of Mato Grosso. The company projects four more units by 2026 and a production capacity of more than 4 billion liters of ethanol per year. According to the president of Unica, Evandro Gussi, FS joining Unica reinforces the position of ethanol as a low carbon solution for current and future mobility. “We produce energy from Brazil to the world and it is good to know that we can count on companies focusing on sustainability in the same way as we do”. In 2020, FS obtained the certification to be part of RenovaBio and issue decarbonization credits (CBios) and, in 2021, it made six long-term commitments to society.
