China imported 35.211 million tons of soybeans from Brazil from January to June 2022, down 12% when compared to 2021, according to the Ministry of Economy’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex). The Asian nation is the biggest buyer of the Brazilian oilseed, followed by Spain with 2.42 million tons, up 7% over the same period last year. The Netherlands is in the third place, with 1.689 million tons, down 20% from last year. Overall Brazilian soybean exports totaled 53.071 million tons in 2022. In the same period last year, Brazil shipped 57.537 million tons. Shipments from Mato Grosso totaled 20.117 million tons until June this year. The state of Goiás was the second largest shipper, with 6.612 million tons in the period, followed by São Paulo, with 3.749 million tons, and Minas Gerais, with 3.6 million tons. Paraná is usually among the three largest exporters, but it is now in the fifth place, with 3.049 million tons.
