BRAZIL’S RIO GRANDE DO SUL SOYBEAN HARVEST 90% COMPLETE, EMATER SAYS

The 2021/22 soybean and corn harvest in Rio Grande do Sul is about to come to an end (90% complete) after periods of rain that hampered the progress of the work, according to data from Emater-RS. According to the company, the soybean harvest advanced 7% in a week but is still behind the 97% registered in the same period of the previous year and the historical average (98%). “The harvest was intense in some regions during the week, as in the southern region. Further to the north of the state, the rain and humidity conditions did not allow great advances”, said Emater. Corn harvest increased 3% in the week to 89%, compared to 88% last year and the historical average of 87% for the period. “Some regions advanced with the harvest in the week; in turn, the humidity of the grains did not allow the advance of the activity in other regions”.
