Data from NovaBio shows that sugarcane harvest in the North and Northeast of Brazil rose 1.9% in 2024–2025, a total of 16.80 million tons. From 439 to 306 million liters, the manufacturing of anhydrous ethanol dropped by 30.3%; the output of sugar increased by 20.6% to 719 thousand tons. The overall hydrous and anhydrous ethanol declined by 2.4% to 793 million liters. Rising by 26.7%, ethanol stock now stands at 345.9 million liters. At the moment, just 18% of the harvest has been concluded. NovaBio’s president, Renato Cunha, said that although August and September were dry, the weather was good from April to July. His forecasts are for ethanol to account for 51% of the output and sugar for 49% of it.
