BRAZIL’S CENTRAL-SOUTH EXPECTED TO PRODUCE 35 MILLION TONS OF SUGAR AND 28 BILLION LITERS OF ETHANOL IN THE 2022/23 SEASON

According to Canaplan, the Center-South region of Brazil is likely to produce between 28.6 million tons and 34 million tons of sugar in the 2022/23 sugarcane season, which has just started. Ethanol production is expected to reach by 24.3 to 28.0 billion liters in the period. Forecasts vary according to the crushing volume of sugarcane and the production mix. If the sugarcane crush remains at 530 million tons and the sugar mix at 40%, the region will produce 28.6 million tons of sugar and 26.5 billion liters of ethanol. If sugar mix reaches 45% of 530 million, the sugarcane production will rise to 32.2 million tons and ethanol production will drop to 24.3 billion liters. If the sugarcane crush reaches 560 million tons and the sugar mix is 40%, the Center-South region is likely to produce 30.2 million tons of sugar and 28.0 billion liters of ethanol. If the sugar mix remains at 45% of this volume, the sugar output will be 34.0 million tons and ethanol production will reach 25.6 billion liters.
