BRAZILIAN MINISTER LEADS TALK TO SPARK PRIVATE INTEREST IN PORTS

Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, met with São Paulo State Federation of Industries President Josué Gomes to discuss attracting new investors to the port sector. The government’s investment plan, worth R$ 78.5 billion until 2026, was outlined, aiming to engage national and international industries. Costa Filho highlighted over 35 auctions of infrastructure assets, including leases and concessions, to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs for users. The ministry plans 16 auctions for port leases in 2024, with the first scheduled for March in Recife. Additionally, the concession project for the Paranaguá Access Canal, with investments around R$ 1 billion, is advancing towards auction in 2025.
