BRAZIL HAD RECORD PRODUCTION IN 2022, IBGE SAYS

According to a survey released on Thursday by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Brazil achieved a new record in agricultural production in 2022, totaling BRL 830.1 billion. This marks an 11.8% increase compared to the previous year. The record production of cereals, legumes, and oilseeds, which amounted to 263.8 million tons, a 3.8% increase from 2021, is credited for this growth. Soy and corn are the top two products, while Mato Grosso leads in production. Sorriso city had the highest agricultural production value, amounting to BRL 11.5 billion. Due to the adverse climate in the South, Mato Grosso now leads the producing states’ ranking. The Central-West region leads in production, followed by the Southeast, South, Northeast, and North regions.
