KAZPHOSPHATE BOOST FERTILIZER EXPORTS TO BRAZIL

Nurlan Igembaev, Kazphosphate’s logistics Vice-President, said that by 2024 the Kazakh company will ship 180,000 tons of fertilizer to Brazil via St. Petersburg. “Brazil is a major importer of phosphate fertilizers, whereas Kazakhstan has vast deposits and manufacturing capability”. Igembaev announced that Brazil has become a priority, adding that their domestic market consumes over 300,000 tons. In the spring of 2023, exports to Brazil started passing through the port of Klaipeda in Lithuania. However, because of the higher logistical costs caused by rail charges, Kazphosphate decided that St. Petersburg would be a better option. The change boosted the volume exported, which is estimated to reach 250,000 tons per year by 2025.
