The Port of Recife reported a 34% increase in movements from January to October compared to the same period in 2023, reaching over 1.3 million tons. Sugar led the growth in solid bulk cargo, with October’s volume doubling from the previous year. Products like soda ash, malt, and wheat also contributed. President Delmiro Gouveia emphasized the port’s strategic role in the regional economy and commitment to efficiency and sustainability. Investments exceeding R$ 50 million are planned, with leases of terminals REC08, REC09, and REC10 focused on solid bulk and general cargo. Secretary Maurício Laranjeira highlighted the terminal’s recovery and upcoming operations that will establish the Port of Recife as the nation’s leader in malt and barley handling, crucial for the brewing industry.
