São Paulo maintained its leadership in agricultural exports for the second consecutive month, holding an 18.4% share of the national total. From January to October 2024, São Paulo’s agribusiness exports increased by 11.2%, reaching US$25.77 billion and creating a surplus of US$21.03 billion. The agricultural sector represented 43.6% of the state’s exports, while non-agribusiness sectors recorded a significant trade deficit. São Paulo’s performance in exporting juices (83.7%), sugar and alcohol (63.1%), and various food products (73.9%) was particularly notable. In contrast, Brazil’s overall agribusiness exports rose by just 0.3%, totaling US$140.02 billion, but imports grew by 17.2%. The Brazilian agribusiness trade surplus was US$123.78 billion, slightly lower than in 2023. Non-agribusiness sectors had a substantial deficit, making agribusiness crucial to the national trade surplus of US$63.02 billion.
