According to research carried out by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the Brazil-Germany Cooperation for Sustainable Development (GIZ), Brazil’s switch to green hydrogen may boost GDP by BRL 61.5 billion by 2050 and create about 177,000 new jobs. The study emphasizes the potential of hydrogen in the industries of steel and sustainable aviation fuels, which account for 80% of energy consumption. Though it demands significant investments and the acceptance of new technology, GIZ claims that the benefits of using green hydrogen exceed the prospective GDP losses, therefore lowering environmental effects and promoting competitiveness.
