In the first half of October during the 2024-25 harvest, mills in Brazil’s Center-South processed 33.832 million tons of sugarcane, an increase of 2.75% compared to the same period last year, according to the Sugarcane and Bioenergy Industry Union (Unica). Of the 255 working facilities, nine made ethanol from corn, and 236 crushed sugarcane. With 47.28% of the raw material going toward sugar, the total amount of sugar produced was 2.443 million tons (+8%). A total of 2.007 billion liters (+14.63%) of ethanol were generated, comprising 1.285 billion hydrous (+11.95%) and 722 million anhydrous (+13.56%). The ATR climbed by 6.98% to 160.3 kg per ton compared to the last harvest.
