On Thursday, the Brazilian Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved BRL 500 million for Alvorada Bioenergia, of the Alvorada Agricultural Group, to build a corn ethanol manufacturing plant in Canarana (MT). The bank employed Fundo Clima resources and estimates that the unit could generate 222 thousand cubic meters of ethanol, 147 thousand tons of dried distillers grains (DDGS), and 8 thousand tons of crude oil. The bank says the initiative will use a new technology that has proved effective in ethanol plants in other countries, such as the US. BNDES also declares the new factory will be the first large-scale industrial operation in BR-158, a cattle-ranching zone.
