The development of the industry that will process phosphate (99.8%) and uranium (0.2%) from the Itataia deposit is being studied by technicians from Ibama in Brasil. About 50% of the demand for dicalcium phosphate and 25% of the demand for phosphate fertilizers in the North and Northeast will come from this project. “It will make a remarkable contribution to Ceará’s economic and social development, and enable three rural communities in Santa Quitéria, close to Itataia, to receive a pipeline that will supply them with water.” The production of the Itatiaia deposit won’t result in an increase in uranium, according to Rodolfo Galvani Jnior, director of Galvani, who also claims that there won’t be any radiation hazards for the community or its workers.
