At the close of 2022, Bahia state port authority Codeba wants to increase the number of vacancies in the sorting yard of the Port of Salvador by imposing a charge, which, in turn, is worrying the state’s productive sector more than the number of vehicles in queue. During peak seasons, an additional area next to the yard is designated to handle the excess volume. However, Codeba opted to launch a competition to create a space outside the port area, whose use will be mandatory and imply an additional charge. Discontent is widespread because cargo owners already pay fees to Codeba. The toll would represent another expense for using the port. One of the justifications presented by the port authority is that the new space would increase the comfort of drivers by offering restaurants/diners, tire shops, rest areas, etc.
