FOR UNICA, THE TRANSITION TO SUSTAINABLE FUELS NEEDS TO START NOW.

At COP30, Brazil’s Sugarcane and Bioenergy Industry Association (Unica) will advocate for moving from rhetoric to action in the global energy transition, emphasizing immediate adoption of scalable solutions such as biofuels. The group argues that sustainable fuels are key to cutting emissions quickly and achieving the Global Stocktake’s goal of tripling renewable capacity by 2030. Unica highlights the Belém 4X Pledge on Sustainable Fuels as a platform to guide public policies, attract investments, and expand technologies like Sustainable Aviation Fuel and maritime biofuels. President Evandro Gussi stressed that biofuels, especially Brazilian ethanol, already deliver large-scale decarbonization and that Brazil is uniquely positioned to lead this transition through its productivity, innovation, and strong environmental governance.
